In Detail
Why Wiki.js on Your Own Server?
Wiki.js is open source and runs smoothly even on small packages. On your own server you decide who reads and writes, and you can mirror your pages to your own Git repository as well.
Wiki.js 2 offers several editors – Markdown, a visual editor and raw HTML – plus built-in search, page history and groups with fine-grained permissions. Through storage modules it can sync content with a Git repository, so your pages also exist as Markdown files. The panel installs Wiki.js with a PostgreSQL database and completes the setup wizard right away: your admin account with your e-mail address and a generated password exists before anyone else finds the site. Telemetry is switched off. With a domain, Wiki.js runs on HTTPS; without one you reach it via the IP address and add the domain later in the panel. If you need it, you set up login via LDAP, SAML or OAuth2 in the administration area.
