In Detail

Why Tandoor Recipes on Your Own Server?

Recipes, plans and lists belong to your household, not to an app that asks for a subscription tomorrow. On your server everyone can access them from phone, tablet or kitchen computer.

Tandoor Recipes collects your recipes, imports them from websites if you like and scales ingredient amounts to the number of servings you need. Your meal plan turns into a shopping list sorted by supermarket category that you tick off together; nutrition values can be stored per ingredient. The panel installs Tandoor with a PostgreSQL database and creates your admin account with the username you chose and a generated password. On first login you create a space and invite your family into it. If you like, Tandoor runs on your domain with HTTPS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most important questions

What is a space in Tandoor?
A space is your household’s shared area with all recipes, plans and lists. You create it on first login and invite other people into it.
Can I take recipes from the internet?
Yes. Tandoor imports recipes from many websites via a link. You can also import collections from some other recipe apps.
How many resources does Tandoor need?
The app requires 1 GB of RAM and 5 GB of storage. That is plenty for a household; recipe photos are what take up most space.
How does Tandoor differ from Mealie?
Tandoor goes into more detail, for example with nutrition values, units and shopping-list sorting. Mealie is leaner and quicker to set up – both are available with one click.
