In Detail

Why Linkwarden on Your Own Server?

Web pages change or vanish, and your sources go with them. Linkwarden is open source and keeps its own copy of every saved page on your server, visible only to you and your team.

Linkwarden organises bookmarks in collections and sub-collections with tags. When you save a link, it automatically keeps copies of the page – as a screenshot, a PDF and a complete HTML file, plus a reader view – so the content survives even if the original goes offline. You share collections with other users and grant them read or edit rights. The panel installs Linkwarden with a PostgreSQL database, creates your account with the username you chose and a generated password, and then closes registration. With a domain Linkwarden runs on HTTPS, without one via the IP address; you can add the domain later in the panel. Because archived copies take up space, the app requires at least 10 GB of storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most important questions

How does Linkwarden differ from wallabag?
Linkwarden focuses on lasting archived copies and shared team collections. wallabag is built for reading single articles later, without ads.
Can I import my browser bookmarks?
Yes. Linkwarden imports your browser’s HTML bookmark export as well as exports from some other bookmark services.
How does my team get access?
Registration is closed after the installation. For more accounts you temporarily re-enable it in the compose file over SSH, let your team sign up and then close it again.
How much storage do I need?
The app requires at least 10 GB. Every saved page takes extra space for its screenshot, PDF and HTML copy, so choose more NVMe storage for large collections.
