Why Mealie on Your Own Server?

Your favourite recipes are collected in one place, ad-free and without a subscription – instead of scattered across bookmarks and screenshots. Mealie is frugal; even the smallest package is enough.

Mealie reads recipes from many cooking sites directly from a URL and stores ingredients, steps and picture without the clutter of the original page. From them you build a meal plan for the week and generate shopping lists that everyone in the household ticks off together. During the install the panel takes over Mealie’s default account, enters your e-mail address and sets a generated password – the well-known default password no longer works afterwards. Open sign-ups are switched off; you invite further people as admin. If you like, Mealie runs on your domain with HTTPS.

Is there an app for Mealie?
Mealie is a web app that works well on phones and can be added to the home screen as a shortcut. With your own domain and HTTPS this works without warnings.
