Why WordPress on Your Own Server?

On your own root server you share CPU and memory with no one, decide PHP settings, caching and plugins yourself and have full SSH access to files and database.

The panel installs WordPress with its own MariaDB database. Beforehand you choose the site title, the language (German, English or Chinese), the admin user and the e-mail address. If you enter a domain that points to the server’s IP via DNS, the site runs on HTTPS right away – the certificate comes from Let’s Encrypt and renews automatically. Without a domain you reach WordPress via the IP address at first. Because no setup wizard is left open on the internet, nobody can take over your fresh install: the panel generates the admin password and shows it to you there. After that it is a normal WordPress – you manage themes, plugins and updates in the dashboard as usual, and SSH gives you access to everything underneath.

Answers to the most important questions

Do I need my own domain?
No, after the install WordPress also runs on the server’s IP address. For a public website we recommend a domain though: if its A record points to your server, the panel sets up an HTTPS certificate from Let’s Encrypt during the install.
Can I run several WordPress sites on one server?
The one-click app installs one WordPress instance and uses ports 80 and 443 for it. With full root access you can set up more sites yourself, for example as a WordPress multisite or with your own web server setup.
Who takes care of updates?
You update WordPress, themes and plugins in the WordPress dashboard as usual, and the operating system via SSH. It is your server – you decide when to update what.
Can I move an existing WordPress site?
Yes. Install WordPress with one click, then transfer content and database with a migration plugin or via SSH and a database export. You have full access to the files and MariaDB.
