In Detail
Why Kavita on Your Own Server?
Your books are in one place and readable on any device, without an account at a store. Kavita is light on resources – even a small package handles a large collection; the files are what need the space.
Kavita is a reading server for e-books (EPUB, PDF) as well as comics and manga (CBZ, CBR and other archives). It reads series and volumes from your folders, takes metadata from the files and offers a web reader with reading progress, reading lists and collections. Via OPDS you can also connect reading apps on phone and tablet. During the install the panel creates your admin account with the username you chose and generates the password itself; after that open registration is closed and you invite further readers as admin. If you like, Kavita runs on your domain with HTTPS. You copy your books to the server via SFTP and add them in Kavita as a library.
