In Detail

Why Activepieces on Your Own Server?

Self-hosted, Activepieces does not count executions: how many flows run depends only on your server’s resources. Credentials for your services and the data you process stay with you in Frankfurt.

Activepieces connects apps and services through flows: a trigger such as a new e-mail, a webhook or a schedule starts a series of steps, for example in Google Sheets, Slack or a database. The building blocks are called pieces; besides hundreds of ready-made integrations there are AI steps and custom code in TypeScript. The panel installs Activepieces with PostgreSQL and Redis and creates your account with your e-mail address and a generated password. Because the first account owns the platform, nobody can take over an open setup page before you; other people only join by invitation. If you like, the panel sets up your domain with HTTPS – important when external services should send webhooks to your server. Plan for at least 2 GB of RAM.

How is it different from n8n?
Both automate workflows between services. Activepieces focuses on a simple, step-by-step interface without code, n8n on freely wired nodes for branching workflows – both run on your root server.
Do I need a domain?
Not to get started, Activepieces also runs on the IP address. For webhooks and connections to services such as Google, a domain with HTTPS makes sense though; you can add it in the panel later as well.
Can I use AI in my flows?
Yes. Activepieces has pieces for providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic as well as AI agents that carry out several steps on their own. You store the API key as a connection.
How do I back up my flows?
Flows and connections live in the PostgreSQL database on your server. Back them up with the server backups in the panel; you can also export individual flows as files.
