Your Own Mail Server in Detail
Your own mail server gives you complete control over your email infrastructure. With Mailcow you get a complete mail server suite with web interface that bundles Postfix (SMTP), Dovecot (IMAP/POP3), Rspamd (spam filter), ClamAV (antivirus) and SOGo (webmail & calendar) in Docker containers. Setup takes less than 30 minutes with our root server. Alternatively use iRedMail or a manual Postfix/Dovecot setup for maximum control. The Frankfurt location and our German IP addresses ensure the best email reputation and fast delivery. You set up DKIM, SPF and DMARC yourself and thus control the authenticity of your emails. NVMe SSDs provide fast access to mailboxes even with large inboxes. And the included DDoS protection keeps your mail server reachable even under attack.

Answers to the most important questions
No. Mailcow uses Docker and has an automatic setup script. On our root server with Docker support, installation takes under 30 minutes. After that you manage everything via a modern web interface — domains, mailboxes, aliases, spam filters.
Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your domain — Mailcow supports this out of the box. Our German IP addresses have good reputation. Additionally we recommend a rDNS entry (PTR record), which we set up for free.
There is no limit. You can create as many domains, mailboxes and aliases as you want. With 4 GB RAM we recommend up to 50 active users, with 8 GB RAM up to 200+.
Yes. The server is located in Frankfurt, your data stays in Germany and you control which data is stored. No third parties, no cloud dependencies — full GDPR compliance.
