Dear customers, dear partners, and dear employees,
the year is drawing to a close, and we would like to thank you sincerely for the great collaboration this business year.
Revenue year-on-year
This year we were able to increase the company's revenue by 48% compared to the previous business year, clearly exceeding our own expectations as well as forecasts.
Statistics
This year, too, we recorded a decline in product sales in the B2C segment.
Thanks to the rack we took over last year, we were able to significantly expand our infrastructure. Last year the decline could be traced back to the economic year; this year the cause presumably lies in how the offering developed at the start of the year. Despite the economic situation in Germany, we were able to noticeably increase product sales over the course of the year and more than doubled them in November-December.
Our domain portfolio grew by around 133% this year and, as in the past, is concentrated on .de, .eu, .com and .net domains.
This year the number of successfully processed tickets rose rapidly, increasing by almost 400%. By the end of the 2023 business year we stand at around 8,000 closed tickets. This number can be traced back to the growth in active customers at Prepaid-Host.
Payment processing this year also ran primarily through PayPal, with 57.6% of transactions made via PayPal. PaySafeCard accounted for 19.6% in 2023, and credit cards for 13.9%. We had to remove Sofortüberweisung during the year due to an increase in fraud cases, and for now we do not plan to reintegrate this payment method.
Looking back at our goals for 2022:
Expand gameservers and the web interface
We were able to fix several bugs in the existing web interface and also optimized our ordering process. However, the goal itself shifted over the course of the work, which we'll cover in more detail in our goals for 2024.
Larger backup servers for customer backups, expansion of our infrastructure
This year we were able to expand not only our backup infrastructure but also the entire Ceph cluster. All Xeon systems were replaced with EPYC systems, and we added more servers than we forecast at the start of the year. The network structure was also expanded with a 100Gbe switch to connect backups and customer systems with significantly better performance.
Goals for 2024:
Storage servers
Due to high demand on our Discord and in various tweets, we want to expand our offering with storage servers in 2024. The release of S3 storage is planned for 2024.
API rework
The rework of our entire code infrastructure already began this year and is set to be completed in 2024. Given the age of the current code and various bugs and issues, we decided on a rework, particularly so we can work API-first.
