Dear customers,
we are proud to announce that we have equipped our infrastructure with a powerful Arista DCS-7304 switch.
From 40GbE to 100GbE – What changes?
With the switch from the Arista 7050QX models, which had 40GbE ports, to our new Arista DCS-7304, we are seeing a significant increase in bandwidth through 100GbE ports. The quadrupling of throughput per port allows us to scale network performance across the board. We are in the process of equipping all servers with a 25GbE connection to increase network performance across the entire cluster. This is a decisive step toward further improving the efficiency and speed you're used to from us.
Redundancy
The robust architecture of the Arista DCS-7304, with four power supplies connected to two separate power feeds, forms the backbone of our efforts to ensure the highest possible failover resilience. With this redundant power supply, we secure continuous network operation and ensure that your services keep running without disruption even in the event of power fluctuations or outages.
Optimizing the NVMe Ceph Cluster
The integration of the Arista DCS-7304 opens up new technical possibilities for our NVMe Ceph cluster. Ceph, designed as a distributed storage system, benefits from a scalability and fault tolerance that fit ideally with the high bandwidth and low latency of 100GbE technology. Using 25GbE connections for our servers optimizes internal data transfer, reduces latency, and maximizes I/O performance – essential for operational efficiency in a distributed storage system like Ceph.
A Deeper Look at the Ceph Architecture
Ceph automatically and redundantly distributes data across the entire cluster to maximize resilience and performance. With the Arista DCS-7304, we can make even better use of Ceph's advantages, since this switch increases bandwidth. This improves communication between Ceph nodes, resulting in faster replication and recovery in the event of a node failure.
We're excited to experience our new network technology together with you. If you have questions about the technical specifications or want to know exactly how these upgrades affect your services, don't hesitate to contact our support team.
Together, we're building a powerful, reliable, and future-proof hosting environment.
